New Westminster audiences have another chance to enjoy the Global Tea Room series at Massey Theatre.

The series, hosted by Cassius Khan, combines the music and tea of a variety of cultures from around the world. It returns on Sunday, May 19 with Indian tea, featuring a performance by Khan,

Khan, a Queensborough resident, is also one of Canada’s best-known Indian classical musicians, recognized around the world for his unique performance skill in combining tabla playing with ghazal/thumri singing – simultaneously.

“Many noted Indian classical music gurus have proclaimed that singing and playing tabla in unison is a difficult feat to master, as tabla playing requires skill and strength, as well as an absolute concentration on the kaleidoscopic rhythm patterns of the repertoire, and singing requires absolute skill in the execution of notes and vibrations of the voice and excellent breathing control,” says a write-up about the event.

The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. For details, see Massey Unlimited: Global Tea Room event posted by Massey Theatre on Facebook.
