The Plaskett Gallery at Massey Theatre is inviting people in to enjoy some music with their art.
The gallery is offering a series of week-long musical residences, with performers on hand to entertain those who have booked time to visit the gallery.
The classical music duo of clarinetist Krystal Morrison and violist Erin Macdonald are featured this week. They perform Thursday, Aug. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m.
At the same time, visitors will be able to check out the exhibition Raven’s Eye 2020, featuring art by Kevin Stewart. It’s underway until Aug. 28.
The Massey Theatre website notes Cassius Khan will bring his Indian classical music to the gallery Aug. 13 to 15, with Tomoya Yamada Dancers scheduled for Aug. 20 to 22. Eddy van Wyck, a multidisciplinary artist, is scheduled from Aug. 27 to 29.
The performances are free but must be booked in advance. Viewings are limited to 30 minutes at a time, and people are asked to book time only with their “bubble,” with a maximum of 10 people allowed at once.
COVID-19 safety protocols are in place; visitors are required to state that they have assessed themselves for symptoms before entering, and everyone is required to provide contact information in the event that contact tracing is required.
All the artists who take part in the summer residences are set to return to a showcase event at Massey Theatre on Sunday, Aug. 30, where they will perform and share reflections about their experiences as artists during a pandemic.
