New West audiences can help bring a new play to life for Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays.

The fringe theatre series is presenting the next instalment of its Script Tease series on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the back room at the Heritage Grill.

Script Tease productions are interactive workshop readings where a new play is brought to life by actors (or wannabe actors) selected from those in attendance. Casting is blind and inclusive; all you need to do to take part is drop your name in the hat for a chance to take part. (Audience members who don’t want to take part are also welcome to just watch.)

This session features a reading of jew-ish, by playwright Ira Cooper. It centres on the character of Izzy, whose family wants him to get married, have children and carry on Jewish traditions and culture. But who does that benefit? Who do they want him to be?

Showtime is 7 p.m., and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is on a pay-what-you-want basis.

The Heritage Grill is at 447 Columbia St. You can just drop in, but reservations are recommended at 604-759-0819. See www.facebook.com/wayoffwed for all the details.
