An award-winning jazz singer is coming to New Westminster for the next Gallery Sessions evening in Queen’s Park.

Adele M. Wilding is featured in a Wednesday, Feb. 27 performance at the Gallery at Queen’s Park.

Wilding and her trio will perform a blend of jazz standards and originals.

A write-up about the event notes that Wilding was the inaugural winner of the Black Women in the Arts Nina Simone Award in 2005, presented every year in London, U.K. Wilding’s vocal prowess has made her a favourite on both sides of the Atlantic, and she has four commercial recordings to her credit.

She’s an advocate of jazz worship and has performed at both Jazz Evensong at the Sanctuary in Brentwood in Burnaby and at the North Shore Jazz Vespers at St. Andrew’s United Church in North Vancouver.

Wilding is currently writing and touring her Caribbean & Blue project, a collection of works that fuse contemporary jazz with Caribbean and Latin influences while celebrating the colour blue.

Tickets for her Gallery Sessions performance are $10, and the concert runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets through gallerysessions.eventbrite.com.
