Here’s your chance to check out some new work by a familiar New Westminster musician.

Stephen Carl O’Shea – known for his work as a performer and as the executive director of the Arts Council of New Westminster – is teaming up with Daniel Ross to present an evening featuring their new collaborative audiovisual work, EXPANSE.

It’s on Saturday, May 18 at Old Crow Coffee Co., 655 Front St., running from 10 p.m. to midnight.

A Facebook event notes that EXPANSE is a collaborative audiovisual work composed by O’Shea and Ross in the winter of 2019, recorded remotely between their homes (here and in Montreal).

“The artists’ process bridged geographic, temporal and technological divides,” the write-up says. “This context is observed as the underlying compositional currents explore the tension and challenges that were faced by the artists. Across its 17 minutes, varying themes emerge as products of these dynamics, thus illustrating the challenge in identifying the narrative of an increasingly complex and connected world.”

The evening will include entertainment by Social Medium DJs starting at 10 p.m., with the music video screening starting at 11:45 p.m.
