It’s a time of self-isolation and social distancing.

People have had to make changes to their daily lives because of the pandemic, including spending more time at home.

The Optimist asked our Facebook followers, “Now that you’re spending more time at home, what are you doing to pass the time?”

Spring cleaning, going for walks and gardening were some of the popular responses.

Here are some of the answers we received:

Billie McConnell – “Being a senior in self-isolation I’m happy to have my own home with a yard. Getting the garden back in shape and cleaned up after the winter. Walking if I can find a place that isn’t crowded with people trying to do the same, self-distancing. Riding my stationary bike and crafts, reading, and of course texting etc.”

Susan Grace – “Sanding down a table to refinish it - have put this off for a year!”

Kirsten Laufer – “I’m watching my two young boys torment each other and thinking how even one week of spring break together was too long for them.”

Christine Von Saarn – “Catching up on all the things I always wanted to do but never had time for! Spring cleaning and paperwork to begin with, followed by writing an epic novel!”

Kylie Taylor Hall – “Teaching the kids how to paint their bedrooms!”

Kayla McNortherson – “Yard work! Building a platform for a shed (the plastic assemble yourself kind of allowable size - don't have bylaws running after me). Spring cleaning, playing outside with my nearly three-year-old, organizing the garage... Lots of stuff to do!”

Stella MacDonald – “Reading, eating, sewing, snacking, walking, playing games with hubby.....enjoying the view outside our condo.”

Kathleen Ladislaus – “Spending time in my backyard garden with my grandson. When the rain comes back, cleaning the house, reading and writing.”

Matthew Witt – “Cleaning, Lego with my kids, video games with friends.”

Jennifer Griffiths – “Spring cleaning, going out for walks, playing games, watching way too much Netflix...”
