New West's daily COVID-19 rate stays the same

The average daily rate of COVID-19 remains at two in New Westminster. More than four in five adults aged 50 or over (85%) have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, along with more than four in five of those over the age of 18 (82%).

The number of new weekly COVID-19 cases in New Westminster finally hit single digits during the last reporting period, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.

New West recorded 9 cases from June 20 to 26 – down from 16 cases from June 13 to 19, the 19 cases from June 6 to 12, the 29 cases from May 30 to June 5 and the 34 cases from May 23 to 29. By contrast, Burnaby saw 11 cases during the same time period.
