New Westminster saw 30 new cases of COVID-19 last week, according to the latest B.C.Centre for Disease Control data.
That's a drop from 35 cases reported in the previous week, and 33 in the week before that.
The city's case rate (between Nov. 9 and 15) stood at 6 per 100,000 population, up from 5 in the previous week. Test positivity in the city remained at 3%, the same as the week before.
On a per-capita basis, New West is faring worse than much of the rest of the Lower Mainland. Nearby municipalities – including Burnaby, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, the North Shore and most of Vancouver – saw a case rate of between 1 and 5 per 100K in the week of Nov. 7 to 13. Joining New Westminster, with between 5 and 10 cases per 100K, were Vancouver's east side, plus the Tri-Cities, Maple Ridge and South Surrey/White Rock.
On the upper end, Langley saw between 15 and 20 cases per 100K in the same time period, while Mission and Abbotsford each saw more than 20 per 100K.
