Forty-six new cases of COVID-19 were reported in New Westminster last week, according to the latest B.C. Centre for Disease Control data.
The case count for the week of Sept. 19 to 25 was consistent with the previous week, when 45 new cases were reported. Two weeks previously, the case count was at 50.
The recent plateau is a drop from the city's fourth-wave high of 66, recorded in the week of Aug. 29 to Sept. 4 – the highest number New West had seen since May.
At the same time, other COVID-19 numbers are also showing signs of moving in the right direction.
Test positivity for all publicly funded tests is now at 4%, down from 5% last week and 8% the week before.
And the city's case rate (the number of new cases reported daily) remains at 8 per 100,000, the same as last week and down from 10 per 100,000 the week before.
