New Westminster's COVID-19 case counts continue to fall

Just 21 new cases were recorded between Nov. 21 and 27

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control's latest map shows COVID-19 case counts per 100K population. New Westminster, along with most of the Lower Mainland, is now at 1 to 5 cases per 100K. (The darker the colour on the map, the higher the per-capita case count.)

New Westminster's COVID-19 case count is continuing to move in the right direction.

The city saw 21 new COVID-19 cases last week – continuing a four-week downward trend.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported those numbers for the week of Nov. 21 to 27. The previous week, New Westminster saw 23 new cases, down from 30 and 35 in the two weeks before that.

The city's daily case rate stands at 3 per 100,000, in line with surrounding cities. The latest BCCDC map shows New Westminster falls into the 1-to-5 cases per 100K category with the majority of other Lower Mainland municipalities (Burnaby, Tri-Cities, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, South Surrey/White Rock, West Vancouver, North Vancouver and most of Vancouver).

Langley and parts of Vancouver remain at 5 to 10 cases per 100K, and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows and Abbotsford are at 10 to 15 cases per 100K. Mission remains at more than 20 cases per 100K.

New Westminster's test positivity rate also remains steady. Test positivity between Nov. 23 and 29 stood at 2%, the same as last week.
