After a one-week reprieve, New Westminster's weekly COVID-19 case count has jumped again.
The city saw 57 new cases of COVID-19 between Oct. 17 and 23, according to this week's B.C. Centre for Disease Control data. That represents a 46% jump over last week, when the weekly case count sat at just 39.
It's a return to the levels of the previous week (Oct. 3 to 9), when New West saw 56 new cases, an uptick from the previous month, when it had levelled out between 45 and 50 cases each week.
The city's coronavirus case rate for the week of Oct. 19 to 25 also climbed back up to 9 per 100,000, up from 7/100,000 in the previous reporting period.
Test positivity for all public tests remains at 4%, the same as the previous week.
