The City of New Westminster is hosting a Zoom forum tonight (April 8) to provide information about the COVID vaccine rollout in New West. It's at 6:30 p.m.

If you've got questions about the COVID vaccine rollout in New Westminster, then don't forget to tune in tonight.

The City of New Westminster is hosting a forum via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. to provide information and answer questions about local immunization plans and the community response to the pandemic.

The forum coincides with the arrival of the newly opened mass vaccination clinic at Anvil Centre, which is being operated by the city, Fraser Health and Ceres Terminals. Appointments at the clinic are by appointment only through Fraser Health's central booking service.

“We are excited to be entering a new phase in the battle against COVID-19,” said Mayor Jonathan Cote in a press release. “The end is in sight, but we must all continue to do our part to limit further spread of the virus. This forum will help residents know what to expect in the weeks and months ahead as community vaccination begins to ramp up.”

The forum will include Cote along with Fraser Health officials.

“COVID-19 vaccines are now available for our friends, neighbours and family members through B.C.’s age-based rollout. We encourage everyone to sign up for a vaccine appointment as soon as they are eligible,” said Dr. Ingrid Tyler, Fraser Health executive medical director and medical health officer for population and public health.

The livestream forum is set for 6:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday, April 8).

Residents can view the meeting live on Zoom. Participants will be able to submit questions during the livestream or can send questions in advance by email to [email protected]

The forum video will also be posted on the city's website for those who can't make the meeting.
