Vaccination rates in New Westminster are still rising – but barely.
As of Nov. 2, 89% of the city's eligible population (aged 12+) has had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control. That's up from 88% last week.
All age groups moved up by one percentage point over last week's numbers, with the 12-to-17 group now at 84% (up from 83%), the 18-to-49 group now at 89% (up from 88%) and the 50-plus group also at 89% (up from 88%).
First-dose numbers, however, have stalled out – albeit at very high levels.
Among 12-to-17-year-olds, the first-dose vaccination rate is now 90%. For 18-to-49-year-olds, it's 94%, and for the 50-plus crowd, it's 91%.
As of Nov. 2, 12 local areas in B.C. had hit the 90% benchmark for full vaccination among residents 12+. Leading the way are multiple areas within Vancouver Coastal Health, with the Central Coast topping the list at 94%. (See full list below.)
