Win Cake Wars! Well, maybe not, but you can get some great decorating tips from this New West baker

Are you a Cake Wars addict? Do you just wish you could decorate cakes like the pros?

Well, you may not become a professional baker overnight, but you can pick up some tips on cake and cupcake decorating at this year’s B.C. Home and Garden Show – from New Westminster’s own Sheila Comer.

article continues below

Comer, owner of Pink Ribbon Bakery, will be on the cooking stage at this year’s show on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. talking about (and demonstrating) simple cake and cupcake decorating trends. In a Facebook post, Comer promises to “decorate cakes, answer questions, and maybe throw in a couple high kicks if I get nervous.”

With a billing like that, how can you stay away?

The B.C. Home and Garden Show runs Feb. 20 to 24 at B.C. Place Stadium. It runs Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets are $16 for adults ($14 online), $13 for seniors ($11 online) and free for children 12 and under. Check out for all the details and to buy tickets.

(And psst, we’ll let you in on a secret: If you order tickets online and enter the promo code PINKRIBBON, you can get two tickets for the price of one. OK, it’s not a secret, we saw it on Facebook. But still, it’s a good deal.)
