Thousands of people took part in the Nagar Kirtan procession in Queensborough on Sunday. The religious procession commemorated one of the Sikh gurus, Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

Thousands of people took part in the Nagar Kirtan procession in Queensborough on Sunday.

The religious procession commemorated one of the Sikh gurus, Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It began at the Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar (temple) on Wood Street and made its way to Ryall Park.

“Both Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike attend this day-long event,” said a notice on the Khalsa Diwan Society’s website. “Each year the commemoration starts with the Nagar Kirtan, leading from the Sukh Sagar Sikh Gurdwara Sahib, to Ryall Park, behind the Queensborough Community Centre. At the park, all-day programs featuring Kirtan, Dhadi Darbar, Langar and lots of activities for kids and the entire family.”
