This is one of the best family outings of the summer in New West

Enjoy tea, treats, entertainment, art and kids' activities, all in the beautiful shady surroundings of the Port Royal Community Garden. Check out the Mad Hatters Tea Party during the New West Cultural Crawl on Aug. 12.

The Mad Hatters Tea Party is back.

Artists in the Boro and the Port Royal Community Garden Society are once again offering the special event as part of the New West Cultural Crawl on Sunday, Aug. 12.

Artists in the Boro will have original work on display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and refreshments and live music will be offered from noon to 3 p.m. in the community garden.

The complimentary tea party fare includes sandwiches, mini-quiches and sweets, and you can enjoy either hot or iced tea. Allison Berry will offer up music to visitors, who can enjoy their treats at tables in the shade under the garden canopy.

Children will be able to do some hands-on creating at an art tent aimed at the young set. And you can wear your favourite hat – which the imaginative Mad Hatters on site can decorate – or let them help you create a brand new topper. Hats will be available for kids, women and men, with plenty of embellishments and decorations. All the millinery fun is by donation.

The Port Royal Community Garden is across from 83 Star Cres. in Queensborough, a short walk from the Q2Q ferry.
