What’s happening?

Parents’ Night Out is a series of free talks hosted by a committee made up of representatives from the New Westminster School District, Fraser Health, Family Services of Greater Vancouver, New Westminster Youth Services, New Westminster District Parent Advisory Council and the New Westminster Police Department.

What’s the topic this time?

The upcoming talk is on gaming addictions and disorders and will be led by special guest Dr. Benjamin Wong, a registered clinical counsellor who is recognized as an expert in the “treatment and prevention of problem video gaming and related pathological digital use conditions,” according to an event write-up.

Who should attend?

The event is open to all parents and guardians of students enrolled at a New Westminster school, and it is specially geared to parents who think gaming might be a problem for their kids.

Expect to hear about the symptoms of problem gaming, possible causes and treatments.
