Wondering what to do with all the empty bottles you’ve amassed over the holidays?

French immersion students from École Glenbrook Middle School will be canvassing Connaught Heights and the West End on Saturday, Jan. 5 for empty bottles and cans to return. The bottle drive is part of fundraising efforts by the Grade 7 and 8 students to help pay for their trip to Quebec City and Montreal in March.

The event is being organized by the New Westminster branch of Canadian Parents for French.

Residents are asked to bag their empty cans (pop and alcohol), wine and spirits bottles, juice boxes and other returnable drink containers and leave them outside for the students to pick up. Folks are asked to mark the bags with CPF so they can be clearly identified.

Students will be canvassing the neighbourhoods from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you don't live in Connaught Heights or the West End or you live in a condo or apartment building, you can drop off refundable beverage containers at a sorting station that will be set up at New Westminster Secondary School, Eighth Street and Dublin, starting at 9 a.m.
