The New Westminster Police Department is seeking volunteer caseworkers for its victim assistance unit.
The department is holding a public information session next month for anyone interested to get more information on volunteering for victim services.
“Volunteering with victim assistance is an incredibly rewarding opportunity and one that some say is life changing. victim assistance unit volunteers are positioned to provide significant, meaningful assistance, often at the time of greatest need,” reads a write-up of the information session.
“On average, our victim assistance caseworkers volunteers contributed over 5,700 hours of service to the program and provided support to over 1,500 victims and witnesses of crime.”
The info session will be held on Sept. 26, 2019 from 6 to 7 p.m. To volunteer, one must be at least 20 years old, have a valid driver’s licence and willing to volunteer two evenings per month.
