Storyteller and photographer Fernando Lessa will be featured at the first-ever Faces of the Fraser virtual event.

Heart of the Fraser is the theme of the Faces of the event taking place on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Fraser River Discovery Centre’s first virtual event will feature Lessa, who will take attendees through his new photography collection.

“We are excited to welcome Fernando Lessa back to the FRDC as part of our first virtual Faces of the Fraser event,” said Stephen Bruyneel, director of external relations and development. “He combines his skills as a photographer with a passion for outdoor activities and the natural world to document the important relationships between humankind and nature.”

Lessa’s book – The Heart of the Fraser – was done in collaboration with Ken Ashley, director of the Rivers Institute at BCIT. The book pays homage to the Mighty Fraser and features views of the river and the life it supports.

“From majestic views of the Fraser delta to snapshots of salmon travelling upriver to spawn, Fernando Lessa’s presentation is sure to delight and inspire audiences of all ages,” Bruyneel said in a press release.

This inaugural virtual Faces of the Fraser event will be free, but pre-registration is required. It will be available to view – and participate in – via Zoom and Facebook Live.
