New Westminster artists and arts organizations are among those to benefit from the B.C. Arts Council grants program.

A new round of funding was just announced as part of the B.C. government’s commitment to doubling investment in the B.C. Arts Council over four years, a press release announced.

Recipients in New Westminster include Savage Production Society ($69,000), the Douglas College Review ($23,300) and John Oliver ($1,000).

The grants will go towards arts-based community development, operating support and new educational opportunities for local artists.

“This round of funding is focused on supporting diversity and reflecting the multiculturalism in our community,” said New Westminster MLA Judy Darcy in a press release. “I couldn’t be more proud of the artists and arts community here in New Westminster who are so deserving of our support.”
