Holy Eucharist Cathedral's Easter bake sale takes a twist in New West

What's happening Around Town

Holy Eucharist Cathedral is once again holding its Easter bake sale, but this year’s event features a twist.

Delicious Ukrainian paskas, babskas and pies, frozen perogies and Ukrainian sausage are all for sale during this year’s event, which won't be held at the local church as in past years.

“This is an annual traditional fundraiser of our parish. We have been preparing for it before the COVID-19 pandemic really started, so we have a lot of perogies and Easter breads,” Father Ozorovych Mykhailo said in an email to the Record. “In order to still go ahead with the sale (though not in our usual way) we have followed the recommendations from provincial health officer and provide only take-out frozen goods (perogies, sausage, Easter breads) with very little personal contact, and try to meet people outside the premise to avoid any gatherings. All orders are taken over the phone only and are prepared for pick up at agreed time.”
