The Caring Neighbour program helps spread Christmas cheer to families and seniors who are struggling with financial hardships or isolation.
Family Services of Greater Vancouver is organizing the annual program, where families, workplaces, teams, churches or schools can register to be matched with a family or senior. Family Services will provide donors with the recipient’s holiday wish list, and they buy gifts and deliver them to the family or senior’s home in December.
If people don’t have time to shop and deliver gifts, they can also support the program by making a financial gift online – and let someone else do the work.
For folks who are interested in sponsoring a family or a senior, Family Services recommends $100 to $120 per person in each sponsored family – with about half of that amount to be spent on gifts and the other half on food for the holidays. Details and registration are available at fsgv.ca/caringneighbours/newwestminster.
