New Westminster firefighters - and Santa Claus - have been known to help out at the annual pancake breakfast toy drive that helps provide gifts for kids and youth at New Westminster Family Place and the Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families.

You have a chance to enjoy a yummy breakfast – and bring some joy into the lives of local children and youth.

The annual Toy Drive Pancake Breakfast returns to the Paddlewheeler Pub in River Market on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 7 to 10 a.m. Admission is by monetary donation or an unwrapped toy, with a value of $15 and up, for a child from ages zero to 16.

The Lower Mainland Purpose Society and New West Family Place host the annual event. The Paddlewheeler is at 810 Quayside Dr.
