The New West Secondary School Hyacks Tailgate Party was held Oct. 19, with people raising money and having a blast. The annual Tailgate Auction is made possible by the presenting sponsor, River Market and long-time team sponsors, G&F Financial, New Westminster Record, Key West Ford, La Perla Ballroom, the organizing committee led by Mary Beth Philip, event volunteers and auction Alumni, who continue to make the Tailgate Auction New West’s ‘gala of the season’.

Folks turned out in force for the annual Glenbrook fire hall open house on Sunday, Oct. 6, getting a chance to experience a closer look at the life of a firefighter and take part in some hands-on fun - including wearing firefighter gear and using fire hoses. Puppies and pooches descended on Queensborough on Sept. 21 for the first-ever Woofstock Festival. Aragon Properties hosted the festival at Port Royal Park and more than 500 people showed up with their animals.

The OpenStage New West performance series held its third and final session on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Queen's Park bandshell, featuring the flute duo of Lisa & Una, drag performers Mx.
