One Thing in River Market is hosting another one of its popular make-your own jewelry events on Saturday, Feb. 8. The shop sells jewelry featuring lockets containing personalized messages.

“We had a lot of fun last time we did this event, and it was a fantastic turnout,” said owner Setareh Bateni in an email to the Record. “Customers really enjoyed the ability to make something with someone they loved for them. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we want to help spread love in a similar way because people loved creating with family so much.”

Folks are invited to learn how to make locket bracelets or necklaces at the event. Instruction is free, so people will only pay for the parts they take home.

“Prices start as low as $5 and go up to $50 depending on what they use,” Bateni said. “A typical Swarovski crystal bracelet of ours is $22, as a reference. But usually when people sit at our table to just make something not that fancy, they spend about $10.”

One Thing will have some special Valentine’s beads available for the event.

“We’re serving free Valentine’s cookies and tea all day on Feb. 8 and asking people to come out with a loved one to get creative and learn to make jewelry together,” Bateni said.
