Vancouver police are investigating the death of a man at a restaurant's drive-thru early Wednesday morning.

In a news release, police say Vancouver Fire Rescue Services were called to a McDonald's restaurant around 5:30 a.m.

Police say video footage shows that the man dropped something from his car window while paying for an order.

The car rolled forward after he stepped out of the vehicle and it hit part of the restaurant.

They say the man got pinned between the car's door and frame.

Police say first responders tried to revive the man, but he died on the scene.

"This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario," Const. Tania Visintin said in the release. "Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man."
