A Vancouver man has been sentenced to a year in jail for sexual assault.

Kim Fai Wong, 59, was led out of Vancouver Provincial Court in handcuffs on March 17 after sentencing, which included jail time and an order to not seek or engage in work in the fields of massage, reflexology or bodywork — whether paid or not.

The conviction related to a September 2021 incident involving a woman.

Wong initially pleaded not guilty to the charge but changed that plea last October.

He was ordered to pay the woman $1,620 in restitution as part of his sentence and a $100 victim fine surcharge.

In addition to the jail time, Wong was sentenced to three years probation.

He must also take any counselling suggested by his probation officer.

As a result of the conviction, Wong must also submit a DNA sample and be listed in the National Sex Offender Registry.
