Vancouver man facing child pornography, sex charges

The accused is barred from areas where anyone under 16 may be present.

A Vancouver man is facing charges of possession of child pornography and invitation to sexual touching of an underage person related to 2019 and 2020 incidents.

The 29-year-old man was due before Vancouver provincial court Judge James Sutherland May 2. Court documents indicate an impending guilty plea in the case.

The man faces two counts of  sexual touching involving one person under 16 years on Dec. 18, 2019, Dec. 20, 2019 and Jan. 31, 2020.

A publication ban prohibits publication of any information that could identify a complainant or witness in the case.

Glacier Media has chosen not to name the accused as it is unknown if they will be a witness in the case.

He is charged with possession of child pornography in connection with a Feb. 1, 2020 incident.

Further, he is charged with telecommunicating with a person who was, or he believed to be, under the age of 18 for the purpose of committing an offence.

The charges were sworn Oct. 7, 2022.

The man was released on conditions Oct. 10.

He must stay away from the alleged victim and family members. He is also barred from public parks, swimming areas, daycares, schoolgrounds, playgrounds, community centres and theatres where anyone under the age of 16 are known to be present.

He is also barred from having any employment of volunteer position involving his being in a position of authority involving someone under 16.
