A Ladysmith man pleaded guilty Tuesday to firing a gun into a vehicle in 2023 in what police called a road-rage incident.
Reza Rahiman had faced attempted-murder charges in the case, but pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code, possession of a loaded and prohibited weapon, and possession of a firearm without a licence.
He is expected to appear in court in Nanaimo on Monday afternoon to set a date for a sentencing hearing.
Nanaimo RCMP said at the time of the incident that two vehicles were stopped at a red light after an altercation while they were driving on the Nanaimo Parkway.
They said a man got out of one of the vehicles and fired into the other vehicle before both left the scene.
Both the victim and Rahiman were tracked down by police using information provided by witnesses.
The victim, who was 17 at the time, was located in the Departure Bay area.
His vehicle had damage consistent with gunfire, police said.
Rahiman and his vehicle were found in the Cedar area, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Several firearms discovered in his vehicle were seized.
