Busy weekend for Vancouver firefighters with 35 fire calls

The calls included a house fire and three vehicle fires.

Vancouver firefighters responded to 35 fire calls this past weekend.

On Monday, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services shared information online from all of the calls they went to over the July 19-20 weekend. 

There were three vehicle fires and a number of "set fires" that were referred to the Vancouver Police Department.

Firefighters also went to five calls at single-room occupancy hotels (SROs) and responded to five cooking fires.

The largest call volume was for outdoor fires, with 20 calls. 

Firefighters were also kept busy with a two-alarm house fire that was caused by e-mobility devices. 

Calls for service in 2024 were up by two per cent, and firefighters attended 73,767 calls. 

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death near Robson Square and another person was stabbed on a Vancouver bus this past weekend.
