Surrey Mounties are seeking witnesses of a “brazen” break-and-enter at a South Surrey mall using a vehicle to smash through a storefront on Dec. 21 — a third such incident in a close period of time.

RCMP responded to a report of a truck smashing the front door of Calvin Klein in the area of 15700 block of Croydon Drive at 4:26 a.m.

The thieves made off with about $5,000 worth of merchandise.

“This kind of brazen break-and-enter, using a vehicle to smash through the glass of a store, is dangerous and causes extensive damage to businesses,” said Const. Sarbjit K. Sangha via a statement.

“We are aware of two similar previous incidents in South Surrey using a similar method. Our officers are conducting extra patrols in the business corridor and we encourage the public to call police if they see anything suspicious.”

It’s unclear for now if the incidents are related. The Integrated Forensic Identification Team was called in to assist with collecting any potential evidence, police said.

“The suspect vehicle is described as a 2000s grey Dodge Dakota, unknown licence plate, with damage to the rear lamps on the passenger side. The vehicle was occupied with thee to four persons inside at the time of the offence. It is not known whether it was a stolen vehicle.”

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or you were a witness to this crime, Surrey RCMP ask you to call 604-599-0502.
