A B.C. man with a penchant for stealing from Lululemon has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to doing it once again.

Vancouver provincial court Judge Patricia Bond gave James Steven Lopert a further 10 days in jail on top of time served while he has awaited court. He received credit for 50 days in custody.

Crown prosecutor Louise Gauld told Bond that on Nov. 6, Lopert stole thousands of dollars in goods from a Burnaby Lululemon store. The court heard Lopert took 32 items valued at about $2,800.

“He’s become a plague on that store,” Gauld told Bond.

The court heard Lopert was sentenced to 168 days for five counts of theft under $5,000 — all involving theft from Lululemon. He also received a term of probation and a no-go order for Lululemon.

Defence lawyer Zack Myers told the judge Lopert has faced a lack of stable housing coupled with mental health issues. He said the housing issue has been solved allowing for mental health supports to be put in place.

Myers said with the sentence given, Lopert could keep that housing.

Bond agreed, saying Lopert being able to keep the housing as a result of the sentence would allow him to gain stability in the community.
