World Poetry is inviting everyone to take part in a "two-for-one" anniversary celebration.
World Poetry New Westminster is marking the second anniversary of its Night Out events, as well as the first anniversary of www.worldpoetry.ca.
The celebration is set for Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at New Westminster Public Library, 716 Sixth Ave.
It will feature a First Nations welcome by Qayqayt Chief Rhonda Larrabee.
Hosts for the night will be Ariadne Sawyer and Heidi Mueller, and World Poetry New Westminster Youth Ambassador Danielle Jones will be on hand.
The program also features musicians Len Zimick, Ellen Chan and Leanna Wong, New Westminster poet laureate Candice James and poet laureate emeritus Don Benson, along with the Vancouver Tagore Society, Duke Ashrafuzzaman, the Backroom Theatre Club, The Code, Allan Hill and more special guests.
There will also be an open mike session for one-page poems - sign up at 6:20 p.m. if you want to take part.
And, seeing as it's a celebration, there will also be refreshments, cake and a raffle.
Everyone's invited. Call 604-526-4719 or email [email protected] for more details, or see www.worldpoetry.ca.
