1 Get into the groove at the 12th Street Musical Festival, which features a variety of performers on four stages. Join in the fun which takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 31 on 12th Street between Sixth and 10th avenues.

2 Get into the swim of things at one of the local outdoor pools. Moody Park and Hume Park are both home to pools, while Grimston Park has the city's only wading pool. If the skies are grey, head inside for a swim at Canada Games Pool.

3 Get familiar with the new shops opening up at River Market. Patio Summerfest, which takes places on the boardwalk on Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will see the market offering a preview of upcoming shops.

4 Get cheering at the 2011 B.C. intermediate lacrosse championships at Queen's Park Arena. The games run from July 29 right through to Aug. 1, with the hometown 'Bellies as one of the favoured squads. Check www.bcill.ca.

5 Get roadtripping out to Maple Ridge on Sunday, July 31 for the New Westminster Salmonbellies' final regular season game of the WLA season. Game time is 6: 45 p.m. at the facility located on 105th Avenue, between 232nd and 240th streets in Maple Ridge.
