A local photographer earned accolades for her work in a provincial contest held by the Professional Photographers' Association of B.C.

Anna Frins is originally from Berlin, Germany but now lives in the Royal City. She runs Anna Lina Photography.

Frins mostly photographs weddings, events and portraits. In the provincewide contest, Frins won a trophy for her portrait titled Catherine. Another image of hers, Father Vincent, received an honourable mention.

"It was a great surprise to win the award. I am proud and feel encouraged to keep going," Frins told The Record via e-mail. "I am grateful for the support I am getting by other photographers of (the association) and for the opportunity to work in such a beautiful and interesting part of the world."

The awards were presented in March. Judges selected the winning photos from 276 entries from photographers around B.C.
