A pair of local performers will be on stage this summer as part of the Theatre Under the Stars' 65th season.

New Westminster resident and local music studio owner Stefanie Swinnard and local business owner Lauren Bowler will be among the cast members this summer.

The musical theatre organization is putting on Bye Bye Birdie and Anything Goes at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. The shows run on alternating nights, starting at 8 p.m., until Aug. 20.

Set in 1960, Bye Bye Birdie, it tells the fictional story of famous rock star Conrad Birdie and his manager, teenaagers in Sweet Apple, Ohio, and what happens when Birdie gets drafted.

In Anything Goes, an unusual group of passengers travel together on the S.S. American, with song by Cole Porter.

Both Bowler and Swinnard are appearing in Anything Goes.

Bowler, who co-owns the Great Wall Tea Co. at the River Market plays Hope Harcourt and the Dance Captain. She performed in last year's Theatre Under the Stars' Singin' in the Rain production.

Swinnard, who has 13 years of classical voice training and owns her own early childhood music studio in New Westminster, is performing in Theatre Under the Stars for the first time, with the role of Mother.
