The local mystery novelist is hoping to see his recently released She Demons: A Mister Jinnah Mystery make the cut for the CBC Scotiabank Giller Prize longlist.

CBC Books is holding a Readers' Choice contest to add a book to the longlist for Canada's richest award for fiction writing.

The contest is simple: Public votes will be tallied, and the book with the most votes will be added to the list.

"The odds are long, but if enough people pester the good folks at CBC, who knows?" writes Hauka in an email. "The chain-smoking, headline-chasing hypochondriac sleuth may yet get a chance to rub shoulders with Canada's literati."

Check out more about Hauka's quest at his blog, online at www.haukacreative.com.
