Classic thriller to close season

The Vagabond Players are closing their theatre season with a thriller this year.

The Vagabond Players are closing their theatre season with a thriller this year.

Frederick Knott's Wait Until Dark, directed by Rob Larsen, is an edge-of-your-seat tale about a con man who smooth talks his way into the home of a blind woman to attempt to steal something she has hidden in her home. Tracy Labrosse stars as Susy Hendrix, the recently-blinded house wife - played by Audrey Hepburn in the film.

The play co-stars Kurtis Maguire as the sinister mastermind, Roat, and Brian Hoskins and George Kopf as the two ex-convicts that he enlists. Jim Bjorkes plays Susy's husband, Sam, with Faith Hurd and Elizabeth Olsson sharing the role of Susy's young neighbour, Gloria.

The play is produced by Jacqollyne Keath, with a production team that includes award-winning set designer Richard Paré, set decorator Pat McClean, properties/makeup artist Leigh Burton, lighting designer Doug Goodwin, costumer Andra Louie, stage manager Alison Main-Tourneur and assistant stage manager Dan McPeake.

Wait Until Dark is on stage at the Bernie Legge Theatre from May 23 to June 15, Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinées at 2 p.m.

The theatre is located in Queens Park.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors and students, with a two-for-one preview on May 23 and 24.

Parents are cautioned that some of the scenes are in complete darkness and some scenes may be too scary for young children.
