City symphony hosts special Christmas show

Show set for this Friday night at Massey Theatre

A Christmas confection as colourful as the festive season is in store for families on Friday night at Massey Theatre.

Again this year, the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra joins forces with the Richmond Academy of Dance to present a pre-Christmas concert overflowing with delightful treats. New Westminster Symphony Orchestra music director, Maestra Zhang has a sleigh full of musical gifts that everyone will enjoy, according to local arts promoter Tony Antonias.

Included are many seasonal faourites plus this extra-special surprise: two talented soloists from Seattle's Pacific Northwest Ballet Company will be dancing the leads of The Sugar Plum Fairy and The Prince in excerpts from Tchaikovsky's ever-popular, The Nutcracker.

A heads-up from Antonias: "The concert starts at 7: 30 p.m. Friday night, Dec. 7, and the Massey will likely be filled to capacity as in previous years, so come early."

As always, admission is by donation and parking is free at Massey Theatre.

Massey Theatre is at 735 Eighth Ave. See www. masseytheatre.com for more information.
