It was a night of drama, as election nights are — and Record photographer Jennifer Gauthier was out and about to capture images from Saturday evening.
She captured the action as longtime city councillor Chuck Puchmayr watched his bid for the mayor's chair evaporate in a third-place finish, and as his city council teammate Patrick Johnstone dealt with the drama as he built a lead over Ken Armstrong to capture the mayor's chair.
From the quiet moments leading up to the results, to the jubilance of the Community First New West supporters celebrating the win of Johnstone and 10 candidates (six school board and four council), and the post-wrap-party enthusiasm of the New West Progressives as they saw three candidates elected — Gauthier was there.
