Shasta sends two to Russia

The New Westminster-trained Samantha Smith is competing for Canada this weekend at the FIG world trampoline championships in Russia. She's joined there by fellow Shasta Trampoline Club member and coach Curt de Wolff.

New Westminster’s Curt de Wolff is part of the coaching staff, and Samantha Smith is in competition at this week’s FIG World championships in trampoline in St. Petersburg, Russia.

De Wolff and Smith are both members of the New West-based Shasta Trampoline Club.

Smith, originally from Toronto, will be competing in individual women’s trampoline.

The 26-year-old is attending her seventh world championships, having posted her best finish in 2014 in Florida when she finished eighth overall.

Last year in Bulgaria Smith placed 16th. She was also part of Canada’s gold medal team at the 2014 Pan Am trials.

De Wolff will be focusing on coaching the Canadian double-mini trampoline team.

The worlds run until Nov. 10.
