What will NDP do for us?

Dear Editor: It is time for the provincial New Democratic Party to come clean with the voters of this province and this city. Summer is over and the provincial election is less than a year away.

Dear Editor:

It is time for the provincial New Democratic Party to come clean with the voters of this province and this city.

Summer is over and the provincial election is less than a year away.

The voters won't wait any longer - they want to know what the NDP plans to do.

Two questions that concern me are: What are the NDP's plans for rent control? Are they planning to set a ceiling on rents that can be charged on residential property?

Does the "government in waiting" plan to de-criminalize marijuana? No side-stepping about "having a study" - give us a yes or no, please.

And, some issues we might ask our local candidate, who has been very quiet on some important local matters:

What will you do regarding the Pattullo Bridge, and some school board members' concerns regarding increased traffic?

If you are elected, Ms. Judy Darcy, will you use your influence to "suggest" to union pension funds that they take an interest in the classy office space on Columbia Street? We know it's a great deal - city council told us so. In addition, since your party favours government ownership of real estate, will you support the provincial government buying out the city's interest in this project?

This city has been very supportive of the NDP over the past few years. What is the NDP prepared to do for the City of New Westminster?
