An organization that had its roots in New Westminster is offering up a night of trivia and fun this weekend.
PAWS for Independence Association is presenting Brain Teaser Trivia 2014, which features food, beverages, trivia and prizes. You’ll have to head to Vancouver for this event, as it’s taking place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Mooses Down Under Pub at 830 West Pender St.
The late Lori Sheppard founded PAWS International in 2002 to educate, to promote awareness of and for people living and working with living-assistance dogs, and to offer peer support. The association's goal is to provide resources to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities and to facilitate community awareness.
Sheppard, a tireless advocate for the blind and the disabled, passed away in 2005 at the age of 42. Sheppard, who had battled juvenile diabetes since the age of five, died from heart failure.
Sheppard spearheaded PAWS’ gala event and conference, which continues to be held every two years in Burnaby.
Brain Teaser Trivia will raise money for the 11th guide and assistance dog conference.
Doors and a no-host bar begin at 5:30 p.m., food will be served at 6 p.m., the first door prize will be drawn at 6:45 p.m. and trivia begins at 7 p.m. sharp. The event costs $20 per person, including light snacks.
