New West Progressives
The New West Progressives, a group that's fielding candidates for city council and school board in this fall's civic election, has released its latest platform - this one focusing on economic issues in the city.

Editor:

For the past month or so, I've been trying to ask New West Progressives council candidates about different parts of their platform and how they would run the city. They haven't been gotcha questions, but things like how they would have voted on the Queensborough temporary modular housing rezoning, or what they can do for whistle cessation above what the city is already doing, or why child care or seniors issues aren't in their platform, or why they want to stop the Arenex replacement project.
I've asked by email and on Facebook and Twitter because they've stated that improving public engagement through social media is part of their platform.
So far I haven't received any replies. I've seen other people ask questions on Facebook as well, and they didn't get replies either. I don't know if this is an indication of how they might act if they get on council, but being unresponsive to people who are trying to decide if they'll pick you for the job isn't really a great way to get the job.

Brad Cavanagh, New Westminster

Editor's note: Progressives candidate Bryn Ward contacted the Record and says she did reply to Brad Cavanagh's questions by emailing a link to a podcast she had done. She later answers some of the questions in writing. The Record also spoke to Cavanagh and he admits Ward did reply, but said Ward only responded to some of the questions. Ward also pointed out that Cavanagh has clearly stated that he is a Team Cote supporter and has made his criticisms of the Progressives clear.
