New Westminster city council gets its first look at a proposed Bosa development on the waterfront, which initially proposes two 26-storey towers and commercial spaces on the parking lot located in front of Inn at the Quay. The project also includes a seven-storey podium that includes 48 units of rental housing.

New Westminster school trustees ask Port Metro Vancouver for a comprehensive health impact assessment related to the proposed $15-million Fraser Surrey Docks coal transfer facility. The district is concerned about the potential impacts of coal dust on children’s health.

John Gaiptman joins the New Westminster School District as its new superintendent. Before too long, he is credited with doing an outstanding job managing the budget process, bringing policy change to the district, providing leadership that ensure the district works toward achieving excellence and uniting the board in its efforts – no easy feat.
