New Westminster police are seeking witnesses after a shooting on early Tuesday morning.

New Westminster Police Department responded at around 1:50 a.m. to a report of shots fired at a house in the area of 20th Street and Hamilton Street, New Westminster.

The residents were home at the time of the shooting, but confirm that no one was injured, say police. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

The Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and is actively searching for CCTV footage and asking any witnesses to come forward. Investigators are also looking for dash camera footage from anyone who was driving in the area between 1:00 am and 2:30 am.

“New Westminster Police Major Crime Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation, and believe it to be an isolated and targeted shooting,” stated Sgt. Jeff Scott. “Investigators are working to determine the reason why this location was shot at, but because it is believed to be targeted, there is no apparent risk to the public.”

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or was driving in the area with dash camera footage between 1:00 am and 2:30 am, is asked to call Detective Justine Thom at 604-529-2578.
