Peter Mitford may now have a million dollars, but that doesn’t mean he’s getting any shiny new toys.

Instead, Mitford has globetrotting plans with his family after winning big on Lotto 6/49. Mitford matched all 10 numbers in the Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize Draw held Jan. 19, 2019 to win a $1 million prize.

While he maintains trappings like new cars and toys are not in the works, plenty of traveling is.

“We’re not very materialistic,” said Mitford. “My family loves traveling, so in the immediate future that’s what we’re going to do.”

Mitford says he was sitting on the couch checking draw results on his tablet. However, he scanned his ticket using the Lotto App on his daughter’s cell phone.

“It was a very exciting and happy time for us,” added Mitford. “It really gives us a few more options, and the ability to help our kids out.”

Mitford, who has played Lotto 6/49 for about 20 years for fun, always picks his own numbers.

“I enjoy the excitement of possibly winning when you check your ticket,” he advised. “Someone has to win, so I keep that in mind.”
