Police looking for vandals

Mercer Stadium field hit with spray paint last week

Vandals had a field day overnight on June 14, spray-painting several buildings as well as the field at New Westminster's Mercer Stadium.

According to a media release, a New Westminster police officer spotted the vandals' work during a routine patrol at about 12: 10 a.m. last Friday.

Upon further inspection, the officer discovered buildings along with the field had been painted.

"Police investigators located and seized several paint and spray cans, which they believe were used in the incident," stated the release.

There were two paint cans, one a Behr Plus Ultra White and the other a Premier Satine Finish, and a spray can that appears to be a yellowish colour.

According to the city engineering department, the cost to clean up the field was under $1,000 and took about four hours.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Const. Nick Ferguson at 604-525-5411 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
