Fraser Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Royal Columbian Hospital.

With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in acute sites, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at this location, said Fraser Health.

Fraser Health declared an outbreak at RCH on Nov. 19 after evidence of transmission in a medicine unit.

“Upon declaring the outbreak, Fraser Health immediately implemented precautions, including enhanced cleaning, as well as contact tracing to protect the health of all staff, medical staff, and patients,” said the news release.

Fraser Health recently declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the same New Westminster site that saw exposures earlier in November.

A resident in long-term care at Queen’s Park Care Centre tested positive for COVID-19. Fraser Health has declared an outbreak.

Queen’s Park Care Centre is an acute and long-term care facility in New Westminster that is owned and operated by Fraser Health. This outbreak is confined to long-term care. The resident is currently in self-isolation in their home in long term care.

At the start of November, this care centre saw outbreaks in both the long-term and acute-care areas.
